After more than 25 years in roofing, a recent site visit gave RMG Managing Director Daryl Cooke a stark reminder of the dangers of working at height. In Issue 10 of The Real McCoy, Daryl discusses fragile roofs, ageing rooflights and why proper planning, access and safety measures must never be compromised. Everyone who goes to work deserves to come home.

RMG were proud finalists once again at the UK Roofing Awards 2026. This year’s nomination came from our specialist slating and in-roof solar project in Wokingham using the SolFiT solar system alongside natural Spanish slate. Following previous finalist recognition at both the LRWA and NFRC Awards, it means a huge amount to continue being recognised nationally for the quality and standards of our work. Although we didn’t bring home the winner’s trophy this year, being consistently shortlisted alongside some of the UK’s leading roofing contractors is something we are incredibly proud of. The evening itself was fantastic, with brilliant entertainment, industry networking, and outstanding roofing projects showcased throughout the night. Congratulations to all finalists, winners, and the NFRC for delivering another exceptional event.
