Project Overview
In summer 2025, RMG successfully completed the sports hall roofing project at Highbury Grove Academy. The existing roof had been leaking for a long time, and the school required a complete renewal to protect this vital facility.
Working within the six-week holiday break, we stripped the roof back to the corrugated metal deck and installed a brand-new Single Ply roofing system with PIR insulation. The works were finished in just four weeks, ensuring the sports hall was watertight, energy-efficient, and ready for use at the start of term.
The Challenge
Persistent leaks: The old roof coverings had deteriorated beyond repair.
School holiday timeframe: The project had to be fully completed within the summer break.
Large roof area: The sports hall required careful planning, sequencing, and delivery.
Our Solution
RMG carried out a full strip and renewal of the roof system, including:
Removing existing coverings down to the corrugated deck
Installing a new AVCL (air and vapour control layer) for long-term performance
Adding PIR insulation boards to improve thermal efficiency
Mechanically fixing a Single Ply membrane system to create a durable, watertight finish
By applying our school-project experience, we coordinated every stage to meet the deadline, keeping disruption to a minimum while delivering high standards.
